This can bee seen as a prequel to "The Keepers of the Elements" or a stand alone fic. this is a WIP(Work In Progress) this is the back story of My two characters, Maya and Rianna from the main stories.
Chapter one: The early years
A small house stood in a forest with trees surrounding it. The house was home to two girls one age four and the other age six. Their parents were almost never home and even when they were they never paid much attention to the two siblings.
One girl, the four year old had gray hair with a black lightening bolt died right down the center. Her eyes were a cool brown, almost black. She was a darkness element who was always getting into trouble. Her name was Maya and she was known as the darkness keeper. A keeper is an elemental that has a strong afenity towards one element and whose powers are stronger than the normal elemental.
Maya had a sister named Rianna, the lightening keeper. Rianna was mature for her age, but then again so was Maya. Rianna had yellow hair and black eyes. She was usually the one who was getting Maya out of trouble. She supposed that it was because the two were always alone. She loved her little sister and nothing or no one would change that.
“Hey Ria! Lets go swimming!”
“Maya, we did that the other day,”
“Yeah so, we could do it again, couldn’t we,”
Rianna sighed and grinned at her sister,
“Race you then you little darkling!”
The two ran off towards the pond. Neither of them saw a pair of crimson eyes watching them from the shadows. The two had no idea that they were going to be sold to a madman, they didn’t know that their lives would be a roller coaster ride of love, pain, anger and torture. The trust between sisters was about to begin!
Chapter two: A Reason to live
Rianna woke up in a cold sweat, her body felt cold and numb. Climbing out of her bed she slipped on a pair of slippers and made her way to Maya’s room. The four year old was shivering and almost in tears.
Ria, there’s something out there and I don’t like it, I don’t like it at all. It’s dark and it’s coming this way and mommy and daddy aren’t home and…”
Rianna pulled Maya into her arms and rubbed her back soothingly, it was natural for Maya to sense these things and if Maya sensed that something was wrong then something was most likely wrong.
The two stood and looked at each other and figured that if someone was coming for them that they didn’t want to be seen as weak. They got dressed and went down to the front room. Despite how they each tried to hide it they were scared. Neither of them knew what was going on and to add to the fear at the time it was thundering and a flash of lightening lit up the sky.
“Ria, can’t you stop the storm at least…”
“No, she can’t the storm was caused by her own emotions of fear little darkling,”
The girls looked around but didn’t see anyone, but they both knew that someone was there.
“Who are you, show yourself or else!” Rianna sounded braver then she felt but she couldn’t help it. She knew that the storm was her own doing, neither of them could control their powers that well.
She felt a mind numbing cold and then nothing, Rianna didn’t know what was going on but she swore that no matter what, nothing and no one would break her or her sister. She wouldn’t let them. Maya was her reason for living and she knew that she was her sister’s reason to live as well.
No one would push them past the breaking point, no one, nothing would or could break them, no matter how hard they tried.
A shadowy figure leapt away from the house, two limp unconscious girls in his arms. They would be the perfect fighters, the perfect pets, the perfect everything that the Miro syndicate needed. Reyoko and Nemesis would be happy, very, very happy with him. His name was Fonz and he was their head guard, their head fighter and their head trainer. The girls were young so for a time he would go easy, making a game out of what they needed to learn but eventually, once they past the age of thirteen then the real training would begin.
Chapter three: The Miro Syndicate
“Fonzy, Fonzy, Fonzy!!!”
A black haired youth with brown eyes and semi-dark skin looked up to be tackled by a five year-old Maya while a seven year-old Rianna hit him from behind. He chuckled and sighed, these two worked better as a team and he would mention that to his master and mistress. In the Miro syndicate you weren’t supposed to get attached to the people you were training but these two were so young that he just couldn’t help it. He would give them the little things that made their lives more bearable, ice cream as a reward for good work in training, a little more food than the rest, but it wasn’t like the girls ever knew about the others anyway so they couldn’t feel favored. Reyoko and Nemesis might have been ruthless but they weren’t heartless, not to children at least.
The girls had no memories of their lives before he took them but they both knew instinctively that they would do anything for the other. There weren’t many elementals in the syndicate but those who were there looked out for their own. It was a game with them, they might look out for their own but if given the chance would stick a knife in their backs regardless. Fonz knew this and swore to protect these little assassins for as long as he could. They would move through the ranks together, despite their age difference. He couldn’t let Maya be without her sister, he knew that she just would never work well alone.
“Hey Fonz, you said that we would play a game? What kind of game?”
The black haired teen looked at the little lightning bug and grinned.
“It’s really quite simple. I’ll hide and you two have to try and find me, but you will have a tennis ball each so only get one shot to hit me. Do you understand”
“Yeah”
Fonz smiled at the two girls and handed them each a small green ball.
He vanished and a voice said, “You have five minutes to find him.”
Maya and Rianna split up to different edges of the large room, they always managed to keep an eye on the other and an ear open for any movement. They had been developing their telepathic skills for a year and when doing something like this they kept a mental link open to the other.
“Ria, duck”
Rianna didn’t ask just lowered into a crouch to avoid the red ball that flew over where her head had just been.
“Maya, jump!”
Maya leapt onto a platform and the two tossed their balls both hitting an invisible Fonz, one in the chest and the other on the back side.
He turned visible again and beamed at the two girls.
“Very good. Now Maya since you are already on the platform, I would like you to jump to the others around the room while dodging the balls from your sister. This is good training for the two of you, Rianna, you will learn how to hit a moving target and Maya you’ll learn speed and precision jumping.”
The two sighed and once Maya had made it around without being hit they switched. This was only a sample of their training games with the Miro Syndicate
